Job summary

Hartford HealthCare’s Cancer Institute at St. Vincent’s Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) in Radiation Therapy.

The role delivers holistic nursing care to cancer patients, under the radiation oncologist, and involves assessment, planning, and follow-up care for a defined patient population. Responsibilities include patient education about the therapy, side effects management, and collaboration with physicians during consultations and follow-ups.

Qualifications

• Current Connecticut RN license required.
• BSN preferred.
• Two years of oncology nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educates patients on the radiation therapy process and simulation experience.
• Discusses treatment modalities, learning needs, skin care, potential side effects and nutrition needs.
• Assists physicians with patient examinations during consultations, status checks and follow-up visits.
• Provides nursing care as prescribed, including medications, dressing changes, skin care, suctioning, glucose monitoring and oxygen saturation monitoring.
