Job summary

MercyOne is seeking an RN for a Quality (Peer Review Specialist) role in Davenport, IA. The position supports the Medical Staff by coordinating interdisciplinary peer review activities and FPPE/OPPE processes, ensuring adherence to quality and patient safety standards.

The role requires strong data skills, clinical nursing experience, and collaboration with department chairs and quality committees. The team emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care and adherence to MercyOne Trinity Health

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Iowa or Illinois
• Five (5) years of clinical nursing experience
• Basic understanding of performance improvement, data sampling, data collection and data analysis

Responsibilities

• Retrieve data from hospital information systems including EHR, Midas and other databases
• Conduct retrospective chart reviews for quality and safety and peer review activities
• Facilitate interdisciplinary peer review meetings with department chairs and quality committees
• Coordinate FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation) and OPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation) processes
• Coordinate external peer review services per contracted agreements, and perform other duties as assigned

Job Title: RN-Quality (Peer Review Specialist)

Shift: 1st Shift (8am-4:30pm)

Status: 1.0 (40 hours a week)

Purpose: Coordinates interdisciplinary peer review activities of the MercyOne Medical Staffs. Coordinators activities associated with FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation) and OPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation). Assists in quality initiates as related to the medical staff. Coordinates External Peer Review services.

Essential Functions

• Acquires and maintains the knowledge and skills necessary to retrieve data from hospital information systems including the EHR, Midas, and other databases.
• Conducts retrospective review of medical records for quality and safety reviews and peer review activities.
• Facilitates all peer review activities for each clinical department of the Medical Staff while working closely with the department chair, vice-chair, and/or quality chair.
• Facilitates interdisciplinary peer review meetings and other quality related committee activities.
• Coordinates FPPE (Focused Professional Practice Evaluation).
• Coordinates OPPE (Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation).
• Coordinate External Peer Review Services per contracted agreements.
• Other duties as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of a current or compact state license as a registered nurse issued/defined by the State of Iowa or Illinois.

Five (5) Years Clinical Nursing Experience Required.

Basic understanding of performance improvement principles, data sampling, data collection, data analysis, and hospitalization procedures and practices related to patient care and utilization of acute care and ambulatory services.

Preferred Qualifications

BSN preferred.
