Job summary

Endeavor Health in Elmhurst, IL is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse for the Pulmonary Medicine Unit to care for a higher-acuity patient population. This role supports patient-centered care and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to achieve optimal outcomes.

The position covers 24 hours per week with a 7pm–7am schedule and every third weekend and holiday track. Responsibilities include care planning, patient assessment, education, and support across the care continuum.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or higher in Nursing; RN is required.
  • Active Illinois State Nursing License is required.
  • ACLS and BLS certifications required within specified timelines.
  • CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a plan of care with interventions to meet outcomes.
  • Performs patient assessment and health data collection.
  • Communicates plan of care to patient, family, and health team.
  • Educates patient and family based on learning needs and culture.
  • Collaborates with peers and supports clinical education.
  • Provides compassionate psychological support to patients.
  • Assists in technical procedures as needed.
  • Participates in quality improvement and evidence-based practice.

Job description

Hourly Pay Range:

$36.00 - $55.80 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:
  • Position: Registered Nurse - Pulmonary Medicine Unit - higher acuity patient population
  • Location: Elmhurst, IL
  • Part-Time: 24hr a week
  • Hours: 7pm-7am with every 3rd weekend and holiday track
What you will do:
  • Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes. Evaluates patient?s progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes as needed.
  • Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers. .
  • Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient?s wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs. Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.
  • Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs. Assesses patient?s cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modifies teaching plan accordingly. Provides teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care and drug information when appropriate. Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.
  • Interacts with and contributes to professional development of peers, students and other health care providers as colleagues. Shares knowledge, provides feedback and contributes to an environment supportive of clinical education. Assigns or delegates tasks as needed.
  • Nurture a compassionate environment by providing psychological support
  • Provide assistance to technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, and administration of drugs, 02 therapy, and IV management.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research. Keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through participation in professional networking, ongoing education, and self-directed learning activities. Supports staff in using research and providing evidence-based care
  • If skilled, conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients. Monitors effectiveness of wound/ostomy treatment plans and other aspects of wound/ostomy/skin care
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist in the transporting of acutely ill patients as needed.
What you will need:
Required Education, License and/or Certification, Skills and/or Experience:
  • Associate Degree or higher in Nursing
    • If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor?s Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date (effective September 1, 2021)
    • Current incumbents with an RN Diploma are grandfathered OR
  • RN Diploma Nurse if position start date is prior to September 1, 2021
  • Active Illinois State Nursing License
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association within 6 months of start date
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - National CPR Foundation (NCPRF)
  • Current CPR Certification issued by American Heart Association
Preferred Education, Skills and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's in Nursing
  • 1 year of inpatient nursing experience is highly preferred
