Job summary

Endeavor Health, based in Elmhurst, IL, is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pulmonary Medicine Unit with higher acuity patients. This full-time role involves 36 hours per week, with night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am and every 3rd weekend/holiday schedule.

You will assess patients, develop care plans, educate patients and families, and collaborate with the medical team to ensure optimal outcomes while adhering to HIPAA requirements and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree or higher in Nursing.
  • If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date.
  • Current incumbents with an RN Diploma are grandfathered OR RN Diploma Nurse if position start date is prior to September 1, 2021.
  • Active Illinois State Nursing License.
  • ACLS - American Heart Association within 6 months of start date.
  • BLS - National CPR Foundation (NCPRF).
  • Current CPR Certification issued by the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes. Evaluates patient's progress toward attainment of outcomes, revises diagnosis and interventions as needed.
  • Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers.
  • Communicates plan of care to patient and family and to physician and interdisciplinary team; documents health data and communications.
  • Individually teaches patient and family based on learning needs; assesses cultural background and learning style; provides disease management and drug information.
  • Interacts with peers and staff to support education; assigns tasks as needed.
  • Nurtures a compassionate environment with psychological support.
  • Assist technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, administration of drugs, 02 therapy, and IV management.
  • Participates in performance improvement and nursing research; stays updated on wound/ostomy/skin care trends.
  • If skilled, conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients and monitors treatment plans.
  • Complies with HIPAA and assists in transporting acutely ill patients.

Position Highlights

What You Will Do
  • Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes. Evaluates patient's progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes as needed.
  • Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers. .
  • Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient's wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs. Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.
  • Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs. Assesses patient's cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modifies teaching plan accordingly. Provides teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care and drug information when appropriate. Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.
  • Interacts with and contributes to professional development of peers, students and other health care providers as colleagues. Shares knowledge, provides feedback and contributes to an environment supportive of clinical education. Assigns or delegates tasks as needed.
  • Nurture a compassionate environment by providing psychological support

  • Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research. Keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through participation in professional networking, ongoing education, and self-directed learning activities. Supports staff in using research and providing evidence-based care
  • If skilled, conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients. Monitors effectiveness of wound/ostomy treatment plans and other aspects of wound/ostomy/skin care
  • Complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Assist in the transporting of acutely ill patients as needed.
What You Will Need

Required Education, License and/or Certification, Skills and/or Experience:

  • Associate Degree or higher in Nursing
  • If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date (effective September 1, 2021)
