Job summary

Endeavor Health in Elmhurst, IL is seeking a Registered Nurse for the Pulmonary Medicine Unit with higher acuity patients. This part-time role covers 24 hours per week, 7am–7pm, with every third weekend and holiday track.

The RN will develop care plans, assess patients, educate families, and work with an interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes. The ideal candidate holds an RN license, ACLS/BLS, and nursing degree compatibility; experience in inpatient care is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree or higher in Nursing; if ADN, must complete BSN within five years ( Sept 1 2021)
• Current incumbents with an RN Diploma are grandfathered OR
• RN Diploma Nurse if position start date is prior to Sept 1 2021
• Active Illinois State Nursing License
• ACLS within 6 months of start date
• BLS (CPR) certification
• Current CPR certification by the American Heart Association

Responsibilities

• Develops a plan of care to achieve expected outcomes; revises plan as needed.
• Provides patient assessment and collection of health data with family and other providers.
• Communicates plan of care to patient and family; shares data with physician and team; documents health data and communications.
• Independently teaches patient and family based on assessment; addresses learning needs and barriers; discusses disease management and emergency care.
• Interacts with peers and students; contributes to clinical education; may delegate tasks.
• Nurtures a compassionate environment with psychological support.
• Assists technical staff with injections, venipuncture, drugs, O2 therapy, and IV management.
• Participates in performance improvement and nursing research; stays current with trends.
• Conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care when skilled; monitors treatment effectiveness.
• Complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Assists in transporting acutely ill patients as needed.

Hourly Pay Range:
$36.00 - $55.80 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights

What you will do

• Develops a plan of care that identifies interventions to achieve expected outcomes. Evaluates patient's progress toward attainment of outcomes, systematically revises diagnosis, interventions and expected outcomes as needed.
• Provides patient assessment and collection of health data involving patient, family and other health care providers.
• Communicates plan of care to patient and family regularly respecting the patient's wishes through acknowledgment of patient/family perceptions of health and illness and mutual goal setting for optimal outcomes. Communicates patient data to physician and interdisciplinary team as indicated to achieve patient care needs. Documents patient health data, interventions and communications.
• Individualizes patient and family teaching based on a thorough assessment to meet their specific learning needs. Assesses patient's cultural background, learning style, learning barriers, and modifies teaching plan accordingly. Provides teaching on disease management strategies, emergency care and drug information when appropriate. Identifies community resources to support patient self-management of disease.
• Interacts with and contributes to professional development of peers, students and other health care providers as colleagues. Shares knowledge, provides feedback and contributes to an environment supportive of clinical education. Assigns or delegates tasks as needed.
• Nurture a compassionate environment by providing psychological support
• Provide assistance to technical staff with injection of contrast, venipuncture, and administration of drugs, 02 therapy, and IV management.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and nursing research. Keeps abreast of research and practice trends in wound/ostomy/skin care through participation in professional networking, ongoing education, and self-directed learning activities. Supports staff in using research and providing evidence-based care
• If skilled, conducts daily rounds of wound/ostomy/skin care patients. Monitors effectiveness of wound/ostomy treatment plans and other aspects of wound/ostomy/skin care
• Complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Assist in the transporting of acutely ill patients as needed.

What you will need

• Associate Degree or higher in Nursing If Associate Degree in Nursing is the highest degree held, must graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within five years of position start date (effective September 1, 2021)
• Current incumbents with an RN Diploma are grandfathered OR
• RN Diploma Nurse if position start date is prior to September 1, 2021
• Active Illinois State Nursing License
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association within 6 months of start date
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - National CPR Foundation (NCPRF)
• Current CPR Certification issued by the American Heart Association

Preferred Education, Skills and/or Experience

• Bachelor's in Nursing
• 1 year of inpatient nursing experience is highly preferred
