South Texas Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse to assess, plan, direct, and evaluate nursing care for patients. The role requires coordination with hospital staff to address patient care concerns and ensure smooth care transitions.
The ideal candidate will hold a Texas RN license (or compact), be willing to cross-train to other units, and maintain required certifications (BCLS/CPR, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI). Weekend and on-call duties are expected.
Performs the primary function of a professional nurse in assessing, planning, directing, and evaluating nursing care provided to patients. Responsible for interacting with hospital staff and/or ancillary departments regarding patient care, concerns, and conflicts by identifying and assisting in the resolutions. This position will, during his/her shift operate without Unit Clerk, Respiratory Therapy, Stroke Team, OB Support, Code Blue support, Phlebotomy and House Supervisor. FED Registered Nurses are responsible for, but not limited to Ventilator Management, Lab Draws including ABGs, placing phone calls and receiving/answering phone calls, paging on call resources, Responding/Activating Code Blue and Housekeeping as needed. Responsible and accountable for maintaining performance skills. This position summary contains the most relevant duties and responsibilities and does not exclude other assignments not mentioned. Position does work weekends, holidays, evenings, nights, overtime, and/or on an on-call/call-back status.
