Job summary

Campbell County Health seeks an experienced nurse educator to lead education across the care continuum. The RN collaborates with the Professional Development Director and Supervisor to assess, plan, implement, and improve education, competency, and committee work in alignment with CCMH mission and values.

The role administers on-site education, develops comprehensive programs, and leads orientation, simulations, and staff development, including the RN Residency and Medical Assistant Program.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program; WY nurse licensure required with on-time renewal.
  • BSN or Master of Nursing preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years RN experience preferred.
  • Certifications such as CPR, ACLS, PALS may be required per policy.

  • Develops education courses including orientation, simulations, and learning for nursing and non-nursing staff.
  • Coordinates RN Residency Program and staff orientation

Job Summary

Working in conjunction with the Professional Development Director and Professional Development Supervisor, the RN assesses, plans, implements and collaborates with other departments to ensure excellence in patient and family care, reflective of CCMH mission, vision and values through the use of education, competency, and committees. The RN will integrate departmental goals for education across the care continuum. The RN practices within the framework of the Wyoming Nurse Practice Act, American Nurses Association professional standards and National Patient Safety Goals. Responsible for conducting on-site education and consulting to clinicians and medical staff. Provides educational support and training on new and/or updated products and procedures. Develops and delivers comprehensive clinical education programs and presentations, including lectures, seminars, forums, and meetings. Maintains and fosters positive relationships with healthcare providers and clinics. Stays up to date with the latest developments in the medical field and maintains a working knowledge of best practices in clinical education. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require a Registered Nurse (RN) or a registered pharmacist (RPh) license.

Essential Functions
  • Develops, coordinates, and instructs education courses including orientation programs, simulations, and learning for CCH nursing and non-nursing personnel to meet organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinates and participates in clinical orientation that reflects the initial requirements for competency training and provides remediation of instruction, as necessary.
  • Coordinates other department’s orientation as well as initial and on-going assessment of competency, as needed or requested.
  • Coordinates RN Residency Program.
  • Administers and acts as primary instructor for the CCH Medical Assistant Program.
  • Coordinates training programs for staff utilizing new pieces of equipment.
  • Coordinates skills training and competency evaluation for staff, as needed or requested.
  • In conjunction with Simulation Technologist, develops simulations to educate and orient staff.
  • Develops, coordinates and/or instructs new and existing programs to establish and grow proficiency within specialties.
  • Applies adult learning principles in the provision of employee and patient/resident education.
  • Chairs the Evidence-Based Practice Committee and participates in the following committees: Education, Policy and Procedure, Would and Skin, Continuing Medical Education, and Emergency Preparedness.
  • Participates in Emergency Preparedness activities.
  • Actively participates in Professional Development performance improvement activities, dashboards and strategic planning.
  • Provides service excellence to all customers.
  • Demonstrates efficient time management and prioritization skills.
  • Maintains professional standards related to clinical practice and continuing education.
  • Practices fiscal responsibility and accountability.
  • Must be free from governmental sanctions involving health care and/or financial practices.
  • Complies with the hospital's Corporate Compliance Program including, but not limited to, the Code of Conduct, laws and regulations, and hospital policies and procedures.

Job Qualifications
  • Education, Training, Experience:
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN or Master of Nursing preferred.
  • Licensure: Active WY nurse licensure (with on-time renewal)
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years RN experience preferred.
  • Certifications required: See Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification Policy and Certifications/Education Requirements Policy.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • The ability to maintain continuing education requirements and all certifications and licenses as required (e.g. ACLS, PALS, CPI, CPR) to maintain RN license.
  • Licensed professionals must strictly adhere to the ethical code of their respective discipline.
  • Ability to develop positive interaction with physicians and staff in order to effectively care for the patient's educational needs
  • Requires higher level of mental faculties accompanied by short and long-term memory. Perception/computation, judgment, reasoning, decision making, analyzing and problem solving. Must exercise considerable judgment and make important decisions.
  • Ability to function in stressful situations.
  • Speaking clearly to communicate with physicians and staff regarding patient education needs. Ability to develop positive interaction with physicians and/or clinical staff Ability to organize/prioritize multiple tasks. Demonstrates proficiency with Microsoft Office, AV equipment.
  • Computer Knowledge including the ability to enter material into electronic record. Ability to operate fax, computer, and copy machine to perform the duties of the position.
  • The ability to demonstrate knowledge of developmental stages and apply developmental theories/concepts when planning and implementing care for the appropriate age of the patient. Ability to maintain the appropriate level of knowledge and skills.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skill in the following age groups:
    • Infant (Neonate to Age 1)
    • Pediatric (Age 1-11)
    • Adolescent (12-18)
    • Adult (19-64)
    • Geriatric (Age 65 and older)
