Job summary

San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, NM seeks a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our patient‑centered care team. You will apply the nursing process to provide dynamic patient management and deliver high‑quality care across the lifespan.

Responsibilities include prioritizing care based on acuity, collaborating with multidisciplinary staff, maintaining licensure and BLS requirements, and upholding our core values and standards of practice in daily work.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure by the State Board of Nursing of New Mexico or a compact (multi-state) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Consistently meets requirements for obtaining and maintaining life support certifications per Life Support Certification policy.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individualized patient care and maintains clinical competency suitable for the area of practice.
  • Prioritizes patient care based on acuity and ensures continuity of safe/effective care.
  • Follows policy, procedure, and licensure requirements.
  • Responds to current safety and quality initiatives, sustaining improvement.
  • Builds productive interpersonal relationships in every encounter.
  • Demonstrates teamwork and delegates appropriately to other team members.
  • Actively participates in the department and seeks continued growth and development.
  • Facilitates collaboration with hospital staff in a multidisciplinary approach to problem solving.
  • Upholds Core Values, Standards of Practice, Standards of Care, philosophy, and goals of the Nursing Department and organization.
  • Serves as a role model with a positive, holistic approach to patient care and commitment to the nursing process.
  • Assesses patient condition and nursing needs using the nursing process.
  • Provides interdisciplinary care to patients across the lifespan (OB/Peds), documenting care and planning interventions.
  • Sets outcomes/goals and prescribes nursing interventions in cooperation with patient, family, and significant other.
  • Employs advanced and specialized knowledge to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and document care of assigned patients.
  • Identifies patient/family educational needs and develops appropriate plans documented in the Plan of Care.
  • Follows guidelines in the Ethics and Compliance Code of Conduct Compliance Plan.
  • Shows understanding of DNV accrediting processes relating to position and responds accordingly.
  • Implements SJRMC Service Standards (Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, Stewardship) in daily work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
  • Ability to see with corrective eyewear and hear clearly with assistance.
  • Capability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist frequently.
  • Ability to lift >50 pounds and push up to 300 pounds frequently.
  • Potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids, with required OSHA training.
Special Demands:
  • Sets limits when dealing with angry, hostile, or verbally/physically abusive patients and families to ensure a safe, respectful environment.
  • Copes effectively and maintains balance when caring for acutely ill patients and families.
