Job summary

Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital is seeking an RN – Pre-Op/PACU to join the Surgery Center team in Warrensville Heights. This Magnet Hospital delivers high-quality patient care using state-of-the-art technology and supports career growth within a globally respected health system.

The role covers pre- and post-anesthesia care units, with duties including nursing assessments, vital signs, IV insertion, and medication administration.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program).
• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
• Basic Life Support certification (BLS) through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross.
• One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.
• Evaluate, update and revise plan of care to facilitate achievement of planned and expected outcomes.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
• Educate patients and family with educational materials considering cultural issues and other special concerns.
• Administer prescribed medications and treatment in accordance with approved nursing protocol.

South Pointe Hospital’s Surgery Center conducts a wide variety of surgical procedures, such as general, ortho, gynecologic, urologic, vascular, and more, providing patients with top-quality patient care. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be caring for patients in the pre- and post-anesthesia care units. Some of your daily responsibilities will include completing nursing assessments, obtaining vital signs, inserting IVs, and administering medications. A caregiver in this position works days from 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. + on- call requirements.

Physical Requirements:

• Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
• Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
• Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
• Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
• Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
• Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

• Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
