Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Boise, ID is seeking a Pre Op Registered Nurse for the Day Surgery Department at our Level II Trauma Center. You will provide hands-on patient care, educate patients and families, administer medications, and develop care plans to support perioperative care.

As an RN, you will collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia, maintain documentation, and advocate for patient well-being throughout the perioperative experience. Idaho residency and BLS/ACLS requirements apply.

Qualifications

  • Current RN license required.
  • Multistate license must establish residency with Idaho Board within 60 days from hire.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required; ACLS/PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on patient care in the Day Surgery department.
  • Educate patients and families about procedures and care plans.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments and document accurately.
  • Develop individualized care plans based on patient needs.
  • Collaborate with surgeons and anesthesia personnel throughout the perioperative experience.

This position will be located at our Regional Medical Center off I-184 and Curtis Rd.

About the department:

Our Outpatient Day Surgery department proudly cares for patients with a variety of needs, including ear/nose/throat, plastics, orthopedic surgeries, and minor laparoscopic procedures. We interact with patients, their families, surgeons, and anesthesia personnel throughout the entire perioperative experience.

About this position:

As an RN at Saint Alphonsus Health System, you will provide hands-on patient care while collaborating with colleagues, maintaining accurate documentation, and utilizing resources wisely. You will serve as a patient advocate by promoting their physical, spiritual, and emotional well-being. You will also be expected to educate patients, administer prescribed medications and treatments, and develop care plans based on patient needs.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • A current RN license is required.
  • Multistate licenses must establish residency with the Idaho Board of Nursing within 60 days from hire.
  • At hire, Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross is required.
  • (ACLS and/or PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS) ACLS/PALS within 12 months of hire
