Description
The Pre-Operative Registered Nurse (RN) plays a critical role in preparing patients for surgical and invasive procedures by delivering comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care throughout the preoperative phase. Working collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary care teams, the Pre-Op RN develops, coordinates, and implements individualized plans of care that promote patient safety, surgical readiness, and optimal clinical outcomes.

What You'll Do
- Conduct comprehensive preoperative patient assessments, including health history review and physical examination.
- Develop and implement individualized plans of care in collaboration with physicians, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Assess and address the physical, emotional, educational, and psychosocial needs of patients and families.
- Provide preoperative education and support to patients, families, and caregivers.
- Perform ongoing patient monitoring and reassessment, adjusting care plans as needed based on patient condition.
- Ensure compliance with preoperative safety standards, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Advocate for patients and promote a safe, efficient, and positive surgical experience.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
Qualifications
- Active, current, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of California.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- At least six (6) months of recent Registered Nurse knowledge and experience in an Ambulatory Surgery Center, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Intensive Care Unit (ICU), or Emergency Department (ED) setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, physicians, and interdisciplinary team members.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and other operational needs.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt, prioritize, and maintain composure in a fast-paced, dynamic health-care environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Bilingual proficiency with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations and their families.
- Previous perioperative or preoperative nursing experience.
- Certification in a specialty nursing area related to surgical services.
