Job summary

Qualifications

• Florida RN license required; multistate license acceptable with 60 days to obtain Florida license after relocation.
• 1+ years of RN experience in an acute care environment preferred.
• Registered Nurse Diploma or Associate Degree; BSN preferred.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required within 30 days of start.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition on admission and during each shift; identify changes and report.
• Assess environment for safety risks and regulatory compliance.
• Assess patient pain; perform reassessments after interventions.
• Assess for signs of abuse or neglect and report to providers/appropriate agencies.
• Perform procedures and document care in the patient medical record.
• Administer prescribed medications; monitor response and notify provider of adverse effects.
• Deliver exceptional care by promptly addressing patient requests.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment plan, medications, side effects, and follow-up; translate complex terminology.
• Educate about non-medicinal follow-up measures and lifestyle changes; prepare for self-management.

As a Registered Nurse at Oviedo Medical Center, you’ll have all the staffing support, technology and resources you need to deliver safe, high-quality care—so you can focus on what you do best.

In this role you will:

• Assesses patient condition during admission and during each shift as scheduled and/or as needed, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Assesses patient environment for any safety risks and/or non-compliance with regulatory standards.
• Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention.
• Assesses patient condition for signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect. Reports any indications of abuse or neglect to medical provider(s), nurse leader, and/or appropriate agency.
• Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
• Performs the administration of prescribed medications. Monitors patient for therapeutic response. Notifies provider and intervenes as appropriate in the event of an unintended response to medication.
• Performs exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests. Strives to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, patient status, treatment plan, medications and possible side effects, and follow-up measures. Translates complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding.
• Teaches patients/families/caregivers about any non-medicinal follow-up measures, such as healthy diet and exercise, disease prevention, and/or other lifestyle changes. Prepares patients and families/caregivers for future self-management.

Job Requirements:

• Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN license required. Compact license holders have 60 days to obtain the Florida license after relocation.
• 1+ years of RN experience in an acute care environment preferred- experience with medical terminology and Patient Admission testing preferred.
• Registered Nurse Diploma, or Associate Degree, BSN is preferred
• Basic Cardiac Life Support, or BCLS Instructor must be obtained within 30 days of start
