Corewell Health's Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids is seeking an experienced RN for the Pediatric Care Unit 7th Floor HDVCH to provide professional nursing care focused on patients and families. You will collaborate with the care team to plan and discharge, documenting education in the health record.

The shift is Night, 7pm–7:30am, 36 hours per week with variable weekend work, offering comprehensive benefits and support for ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Associates in Nursing required.
• Minimum 1 year RN experience.
• BSN required within 5 years.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional nursing care under ANA scope, aligning with patient/family centered care.
• Collaborate with Nurse Leader and care teams to plan, implement, and discharge.
• Document education and learning in health records.

About the unit

Our Pediatric Cardiology and Nephrology unit is an 18 bed higher acuity unit located in our Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital. The unit specializes in complex populations, including cardiology, nephrology, and burn patients. Other patients include stable trach/vents and neurosurgical patients requiring an external ventricular drain. Nurse to patient ratio is generally 1:3. Our team values the relationships they form with patients and families as they often have longer stays on the unit, and come back in the future due to their chronic conditions. The 7th floor prides themselves on their great culture of teamwork and support for one another. The team works closely with the PICU, and nurses receive cross-training experience to support our ICU population and care for lower acuity PICU patients.

Scope of work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.
