Job summary

Atlas MedStaff LLC. is seeking a registered nurse for a 13-week contract on a pediatric step-down unit in New Britain, CT. Shifts are 8-hour evenings from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with potential 12-hour options (11:00 AM–11:00 PM) depending on staffing.

Expect every other weekend, caring for children aged 2 months to 18 years with chronic conditions, including trachs, vents, and G-tubes. Experience with respiratory or vented patients is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• RN with pediatric experience preferred, especially with respiratory/ventilated patients.
• Proficient in IV insertions and line care.
• Comfortable caring for children with congenital/genetic conditions.
• Able to adapt to non-ICU pediatric step-down environment.

Responsibilities

• Support ventilated patients; assist with suctioning.
• Administer IV medications and monitor patient status.
• Monitor vitals and respond to changes in clinical condition.
• Collaborate with respiratory therapists and nursing team.

Join a dedicated pediatric step-down unit caring for children aged 2 months to 18 years with chronic complex conditions. As a registered nurse on this 13-week contract, you'll work 8-hour evening shifts, from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with the flexibility to consider 12-hour shifts, such as 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, based on staffing needs. Every other weekend commitment ensures a balanced schedule. This unit manages stable children with trachs, vents, and G-tubes, where respiratory therapists handle ventilator management but nurses assist with suctioning. Prior experience with respiratory or vented patients is strongly preferred. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting children with congenital or genetic conditions, primarily focusing on IVs, G-tubes, NG tubes, and other routine procedures. This role offers a vibrant opportunity to work in a nurturing environment that is less intensive than an ICU but still demands clinical competence and compassion.
