Job summary

CommonSpirit Health seeks a Critical Care Nurse to provide expert life-sustaining care in a high-acuity unit at French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, CA. You will support patients with life-threatening conditions, coordinate care with the ICU team, and ensure swift response to emergencies.

The role requires an accredited RN program, CA RN license, BLS, ACLS, and preferably 1–2 years in a Critical Care or Progressive Care setting.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited RN program.
• Registered Nurse: CA RN License.
• Basic Life Support - CPR BLS.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support - ACLS.
• One to two years Critical Care or Progressive Care experience.
• Progressive Care Certified Nurse.
• Critical RN Adult/Neonatal/Pediatric/Acute.

Responsibilities

• Introduce patient to the unit within one hour of arrival.
• Assess admission status and document within two hours.
• Reflect physiological and psychosocial needs of the patient.
• Perform priority patient assessment each shift.
• Round and document patient status every 2–4 hours.
• Identify abnormal diagnostic data.

As our Critical Care Nurse, you will be the vital lifeline for our most vulnerable patients, delivering expert care during their most critical moments.

Every shift, you will command the dynamic environment of intensive care, expertly monitoring and responding to patients with life-threatening conditions. From assisting critical procedures and providing intricate wound care to managing complex medications and orchestrating patient transport, your actions will directly drive recovery.

• Ensures that the patient is properly introduced to the unit & his/her surroundings within one hour after arrival in unit.
• Assesses the patient's admission status & documents this on the admission form & critical care record within 2 hours of arrival to unit
• Reflects physiological condition & psychosocial needs of the patient. Reflects perceptions of patient and/or significant others of his/her health problem(s) & his/her expectations of the present hospitalization.
• Uses observational & interviewing skills to perform a priority patient assessment every shift.
• Makes rounds & documents patient's status on critical care record at least every 2 to 4 hours.
• Identifies abnormal diagnostic data.
