Job summary

UCHealth University of Colorado Health in Aurora, CO seeks an RN leader to provide nursing capacity leadership for a specific shift and unit. The role requires coordinating staffing, directing patient flow, and mentoring staff on an on-site unit at UCHealth Anschutz Inpt Pavilion.

The position features a full-time schedule (72 hours per pay period), day shift, and compensation ranging from $37.06 to $57.44 per hour, based on experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program or state board approved program.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
• RN licensure and BLS/CPR certification.
• Minimum one year of nursing experience.
• BLS/CPR card valid through 60 days after hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide mentoring and coaching during assigned shifts, including productivity and quality management for patient flow and teamwork.
• Provide direct patient care as needed and assist with discharge planning.
• Participate in capacity management meetings to ensure adequate patient flow.
• Perform role-specific duties: entering orders, admitting/discharging patients, coordinating transfers.
• Demonstrate critical thinking, decisive judgment and ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.

Pay:$37.06 - $57.44 / hour. Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience

This position is an onsite role and does not offer a hybrid or remote option

This is an exciting opportunity to join new or expanding Acute Care Surgical units as these teams care for a diverse population or patients recovering from complex procedures within an academic health system.

Summary:
Provides nursing capacity leadership for a specific shift and unit/area.

Responsibilities:

• Provides mentoring and coaching during an assigned shift, including productivity and quality management, for the patient flow of the assigned unit/area. Promotes teamwork and cooperation.
• Provides direct patient care as needed. Assists with problem-solving discharge barriers. May take patient assignments to meet staffing needs. Evaluates the effectiveness of patient care at the time of discharge and identifies issues that affect desired patient outcomes. Responds to complaints and manages through established channels while conducting patient rounding.
• Participates in capacity management meetings and MDRs throughout the day, working with team members to promote adequate patient flow.
• Performs role-specific duties as assigned, including entering orders, performing admissions or discharges, and coordinating transfers.
• Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgement and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and take appropriate action.

Requirements:

• Minimum Required Education: Graduate of an accredited or state board of nursing approved Registered/Professional Nursing program if less than 3 years experience. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Nursing.

  Required Licensure/Certification: State licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider. Relevant certification as determined at position level.

  Minimum Experience: 1 year of nursing experience.

• BLS - BLS through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross with card in-hand before start date. BLS or CPR card must be good through sixty days of hire. All renewals must be issued by the American Heart Association.
