Job summary

Commonwealth Health is seeking a clinically competent registered nurse for the Endoscopy unit at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. This part-time days position supports perioperative care, using the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.

Ideal candidates have perioperative experience or will complete a surgical competency-based orientation. Active PA RN license and BLS are required, with duties performed in a fast-paced surgical setting.

Qualifications

• Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license.
• Current BLS certification.
• Past perioperative experience preferred; if not, complete surgical competency-based orientation.

Responsibilities

• Deliver perioperative nursing care to surgical patients using the nursing process: assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
• Demonstrate pharmacology knowledge and aseptic technique.
• Maintain thorough documentation and teaching to patients and team.

POSITION PURPOSE

A clinically competent, registered nurse who demonstrates expertise in the perioperative field. Effectively delivers perioperative care to the surgical patient through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes:

• Past perioperative experience is preferred. Nurses who do not meet this requirement must complete a surgical competency-based orientation program successfully.
• Pharmacology, aseptic technique, teaching skills, documentation

Licenses/Certificates:

• Current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license.
• Current BLS certification, must be completed prior to end of orientation period
