Pine Meadows Post Acute is seeking a capable Nursing Director to lead day‑to‑day nursing functions and oversee clinical operations. You will develop and enforce policies, supervise staff, and coordinate with other departments to ensure continuity of patient care.
The role requires an active RN license, a nursing degree from an accredited college, and at least two years of experience in long‑term care. Strong leadership and organizational skills are essential for success in this setting.

Assist the Director of Nursing Services in directing day‑to‑day nursing functions, including developing, maintaining, and updating written policies and procedures. Ensure reference material at nursing stations is current. Recommend written material to assist daily needs. Keep the Nursing Service Procedures Manual current and enforce compliance. Report on the department’s operations and make recommendations for revisions. Coordinate nursing services with other resident services for continuity of care. Manage job descriptions compliance. Participate in facility quality assurance, inspections, and surveys. Review and update resident discharge plans and report any issues. Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting.
Attend committee meetings (Infection Control, Policy Advisory, Pharmaceutical, Quality Assessment, etc.) and prepare reports on nursing service programs and activities. Provide information to the Quality Assurance and Assessment Committee. Develop agendas for the Care Plan Committee, review discharge plans, implement committee recommendations.
Ensure sufficient licensed practical and registered nurses and certified nursing assistants for each shift. Develop work assignments and delegate administrative authority to Charge Nurses. Enroll nursing assistants in approved training programs and supervise trainees. Conduct daily rounds, monitor absenteeism, report findings, and ensure adherence to dress codes and policies. Review complaints and grievances, develop rapport with other departments, and sustain a positive environment. Perform performance evaluations, staff staffing decisions, disciplinary actions, and report occupational exposures and fraud incidents.
Inform nursing personnel of new admissions and prepare rooms. Escort residents and make physician rounds. Encourage physicians to record progress notes timely. Consult with families and physicians, notify them of changes in condition, and observe residents daily. Ensure direct nursing care is provided appropriately. Review nurses’ notes, provide direct care, manage IVs, specimens, and vitals. Assist Charge Nurse in monitoring seriously ill residents, authorize restraints as needed, and ensure medication administration compliance. Keep areas clean, perform frequent checks on residents unable to call for help, arrange transport for discharged residents, inform family of deaths, and coordinate funeral services.
Plan, conduct, and schedule in‑service training classes including OSHA, TB, HIPAA, Abuse Prevention, Safety, and Infection Control. Assist Director/Educator in annual training programs. Participate in continuing education. Maintain current licensure and certifications.
Assist Safety Officer in developing safety standards for nursing services. Identify tasks with potential blood exposure, ensure proper training, maintain personal protective equipment, enforce handwashing, and conduct fire safety drills. Participate in infection control program implementation, maintain hazardous chemical protocols, and ensure equipment usage safety.
Recommend equipment and supply needs. Ensure adequate stock of medications and supplies, assist in preventive maintenance, implement safe operation procedures, and monitor waste reduction. Maintain MSDSs for hazardous chemicals.
Develop written assessments and comprehensive care plans for residents. Engage residents in plan review, ensure all personnel are aware and follow plans, and revise MDS, RAPs, and triggers. Confirm treatments align with care plans and resident wishes.
Monitor economic conditions, recommend adjustments to nursing services, and report fraud incidents. Keep the director informed of nursing service status.
Supervise and manage nursing staff. As an RN, hold delegated administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability for assigned duties.
Must possess a Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university. Training in rehabilitative and restorative nursing practices. Two or more years of experience, preferably in long‑term care.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; read technical procedures and policy manuals; present information and respond to questions.
Apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Make independent decisions and solve practical problems.
Plan, organize, develop, implement, and interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Demonstrate knowledge of nursing and medical practices, laws, regulations, and guidelines. Show patience, tact, cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and willingness to handle difficult residents. Pursue continuous improvement and teamwork.
Current, unencumbered active RN license in the state. Current CPR certification. PCC preferred. Maintain all required continuing education and licensing. Remain in good standing with State Board of Nursing.
Move intermittently, speak and write in English, cope with mental and emotional stress. Use prosthetics if necessary. Relate to ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset individuals. Lift 25 pounds to 5 feet and carry or move the weight 50 feet. Assist in emergency evacuations.
Work in office and nursing areas, frequent interruptions, emotional residents, visitors, government agencies, and emergency situations. Requires shift work, long hours, weekends, and holidays.
