Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Procedural Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care in procedural areas within Illinois. The role emphasizes assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for patients, families and communities.

Responsibilities include IV therapy, monitoring patients post-sedation, patient education and documentation. Requires IL RN license, ACLS within 1 year, BLS within 30 days, and HS diploma or GED. Equal opportunity employer.

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Illinois.
  • Education: HS Diploma or GED.

Responsibilities

  • Provide and coordinate competent patient care within the RN scope.
  • Ensure adherence to standards of care and scope of practice.
  • Perform advanced nursing activities including IV placement and monitoring after sedation.
  • Maintain complete and accurate nursing documentation.
  • Provide health education to patients and groups.
  • Act as preceptor and support staff and students.
  • Lead quality-improvement initiatives to improve outcomes.
  • Assist in development of departmental standing orders.
  • Assess patients pre- and post-procedure, review meds/history, and monitor vitals.
  • Initiate IV therapy and manage water management/IV lines.
  • Triage calls, obtain prior authorizations, and screen MRIs.
  • Educate patients in the office and post-injection areas.
  • Order and stock supplies for the department.
  • Perform urine drug screens.
  • Assist Injectionists with procedures such as epidurals and nerve blocks.

Overview

The Procedural Nurse utilizes a systematic approach to nursing by incorporating assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation in the practice of nursing. Provides healthcare to individuals, families, and communities within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Illinois Board of Nursing.

Responsibilities
  • Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice.

  • Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate.

  • Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students.
  • Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes.
  • Assists Nursing Supervisor/coordinator in the development of departmental standing orders.
  • Assess patients in procedural area, both pre and post procedure, review medication, allergies, medical history, and obtain vital signs
  • Initiate IV therapy
  • Triage phone calls, complete prior authorizations, injection screening, and MRI screenings
  • Provide education to patients in the office and post-injection area

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $33.11per hour - $53.88per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
