Job summary

Brandon Surgery Center is seeking a Perioperative Nurse (PRN) to join our ambulatory surgery team. You will plan, execute, and evaluate nursing care preoperatively and postoperatively until discharge, upholding HCA Healthcare guidelines and center-specific standards.

Responsibilities include preparing the care area, ensuring equipment readiness, performing comprehensive assessments, administering pre-op meds and IV therapy, and maintaining IV access.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in nursing or RN diploma or higher required.
• 1+ year nursing experience in PACU/ICU or surgery preferred.
• Active RN license required.
• BCLS certification required; online certification not acceptable.
• ACLS required within 30 days of hire.
• PALS if required by facility within 30 days of hire.

• Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
• Conduct full physical and psychological assessment and review patient history and tests.
• Administer pre-operative medications and IV therapy as prescribed.
• Maintain IV catheters and saline locks; demonstrate proper technique.
• Check dressings and operative site; report abnormalities to surgeon.
• Ensure patients meet discharge criteria.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Join our team as a Perioperative Nurse in our ambulatory surgery center. You will be responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating the nursing care rendered preoperatively and postoperatively until your patients are discharged. What you will do in this role:

Prepare your patients’ care area adequately before case

Ensure availability of necessary equipment and supplies for your patients’ procedure

Conduct complete physical, and psychological assessment and evaluation of your patients’ history and diagnostic tests

Administer pre-operative medications and intravenous therapy as prescribed

You will exhibit proper technique for insertion, maintenance, and removal of IV catheters and saline locks

Check dressings and/or operative site of your patients and report abnormalities to the surgeon

Ensure your patients meet discharge criteria

Qualifications you will need:

Associate Degree in Nursing or RN Diploma or Higher degree in Nursing Required

1+ years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably in PACU, ICU or Surgery

Active RN license as required by state of employment

BCLS Certification upon employment. ***online certification not acceptable

ACLS required within 30-days of hire

PALS if required by facility within 30-days of hire
