Job summary

Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk, VA is hiring a Registered Nurse for the 1 East Surgery Unit (Ortho/Spine/Bariatrics). Night shifts available with sign-on bonuses up to $20,000 for qualified nights and $7,500 for new grads.

The unit is a 24-bed area with 1:5 to 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratios, offering comprehensive orientation and opportunities for professional growth. The role supports MBSAQIP-accredited surgical care, with strong learning support from preceptors and unit coordinators.

Qualifications

• Education Degree or Diploma in Registered Nursing (required).
• BLS certification required (within 90 days of hire).
• Registered nursing license (Required).
• 1 year of acute care experience preferred; new grads considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide competent nursing care following the nursing process.
• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for orthopedics/spine/bariatrics patients.
• Collaborate with PCTs, unit coordinators and preceptors to ensure quality care.
• Support transitions and discharge planning for short-stay patients.
