The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an RN for the Ortho/Spine Unit at Olathe Hospital. The role uses the nursing process to coordinate interdisciplinary patient care, provide safe, therapeutic care, and mentor team members.
You will lead in planning, assessment, and collaboration across families and professionals. Required ADN with progress toward BSN, Kansas RN licensure (or compact), and CPR/BLS.
Position Summary / Career Interest: The Registered Nurse (RN) Entry utilizes the nursing process to coordinate the interdisciplinary approach to patient care. He/she provides safe, therapeutic care in a holistic and systematic way. He/she integrates knowledge, skills and experiences to meet the needs of patients and families through the continuum of care. The RN collaborates with others to integrate assessment and input of the patient, family and the interdisciplinary team. He/she ensures improvements in practice settings by assuming responsibility for self-development in life-long learning. Provides direction and guidance to others regarding practice, serves as a resource, preceptor, and mentor. Demonstrates leadership skills in decision-making and problem solving. The RN integrates and communicates knowledge and sensitivity to patient's psychosocial, spiritual, cultural and age specific needs. He/she practices within the boundaries of the Kansas Nurse Practice Act, specialty standards and organizational/departmental policies and procedures.

Associate Degree Nursing
ADN prepared nurses hired after September 1, 2026 must complete BSN degree by the fifth anniversary in a role that requires an ADN to BSN acknowledgement with UKHA.
Less than 6 Months of RN Experience Required
Licensed Registered Nurse (LRN) - Single State - State Board of Nursing (Kansas) or compact license CPR/ AED/ BLS - Other BLS within 14 days Some units will require additional unit-specific affirmations/certifications/work experience
