Job summary

LCMC Health in Metairie, LA is seeking an RN for Orthopedics to support multiple providers and clinics. If you have compassion and teamwork, this role offers meaningful patient care.

You will coordinate care, prepare patients for exams, document in EMR, administer medications and vaccines, and ensure safety and quality as part of an exceptional patient experience.

Applicants must hold a Louisiana RN license and an active BLS, with Orthopaedic clinic experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana (LSBN).
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Prior Orthopaedic Clinic RN experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate all care touchpoints for patients in the orthopedics program.
• Assist with patient arrival, exams, procedures, vital signs, and documentation in the EMR to ensure continuity of care.
• Administer prescribed medications and vaccines, maintain inventory, and report any safety issues promptly.

Your Everyday

Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate all care touchpoints for your patients. navigating through the program.
Maintain and advocate for a safe environment, follow infection control procedures, participate in quality improvement and other regulatory standard protocols during patient visits and report safety issues.
Participate in clinic flow, assisting with patient arrival, preparing patients for examination, treatment and/or procedures, recording appropriate vital signs, and recognizing responding, and reporting abnormal findings or emergencies to the appropriate medical provider.
Perform patient procedures as instructed, scheduling new and follow-up patient appointments and facilitating a smooth patient exit from clinic.
Ensure continuity of care, comfort, efficiency, consistent communications, and an exceptional experience for every patient.
Administer prescribed medications and/or vaccinations, maintain and store medication inventory and properly dispose of expired medications.
Gather appropriate clinical documentation and obtain medical records when needed or requested by the medical provider.
Document clinical tasks, testing and procedures appropriately in the patient medical record and navigate electronic medical records to obtain records, update patient information, and schedule follow-up appointments.
Advise and consult with supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum of care services.
Contribute to the team by assistingothers without being asked.

The Must-Haves

Minimum

Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana and as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
Current American Heart Association BLS certification.

Work Shift

Prior Orthopaedic Clinic RN experience is preferred.
