Our Oral Surgery team is searching for compassionate, innovative, versatile, and highly skilled Registered Nurses (RNs) who are passionate about delivering exceptional patient care. As a member of our cohesive Oral Surgery team, you’ll play a vital role in caring for a diverse patient population, including individuals with head and neck cancer, trauma injuries, cleft palate, dental extractions, implants, and more. Your expertise will be crucial, especially as you administer moderate sedation under provider orders and closely monitor patient status during procedural sedation. Beyond these clinical responsibilities, you’ll also be actively involved in patient education, triage, and care coordination, all of which contribute to outstanding patient outcomes.

Qualifications
  • Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) – Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR).
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 1 year – American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days – AHA.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification within 1 year – AHA.
  • College diploma in Nursing (required).
  • Relevant work experience in a surgical nursing setting is required.
Responsibilities

Provides and facilitates competent health care of patients and families in area of practice. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and scope of practice. Performs advanced nursing activities, which can include assisting with procedures using conscious sedation, placement of IVs, and administration of chemotherapy drugs. Ensures documentation of care is complete and accurate. Provides health and wellness education to individuals and groups. Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and healthcare students. Provides leadership for initiatives designed to improve the quality of care or clinical outcomes. Assists nursing supervisor/coordinator in the development of departmental standing orders. Assesses patient’s health history, performs medication reconciliation, and assesses compliance with prescribed plan of care. Performs telephone triage and assesses patient problems or concerns by phone, offering interventions, finding resolutions, or seeking assistance from providers as appropriate. Performs assigned procedures and performs physical assessments. Evaluates and revises plan based on changes in patient status. Administers moderate sedation in the presence and by the order of a provider. Assesses, interprets and intervenes based on patient assessment and vital signs. Documents accurately and completely. Assess patient learning needs and perform education for pre‑operative and post‑operative care. Takes necessary imaging to facilitate surgical plans, including 2D and 3D imaging.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $30.39 per hour – $52.27 per hour. This represents a good‑faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered to a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
