Job summary

United Surgical Partners International, Inc. seeks an OR RN for AZ Ortho Joint Replacement Center in Scottsdale. You will provide nursing care in the surgical suite, ensuring patient safety during transfer and procedure, and support sterile technique throughout operations.

Responsibilities include directing staff, assessing patient needs, preparing rooms, and coordinating with physicians. Eligible candidates hold RN licensure, an accredited RN degree, and required certifications.

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited RN program with licensure in the state.
• Active RN license required for the state of practice.
• BLS, ACLS or PALS certifications as required by the center.

Responsibilities

• Direct and assist in safe aseptic techniques and procedures.
• Supervise surgical technicians and non-professional personnel as needed.
• Assess patients for required nursing care and pre-op prep.
• Prepare rooms with supplies for specific patient and procedure.
• Transport patients to OR and verify pre-op records and permits.
• Perform post-procedure cleanup and routine housekeeping duties.
• Set up OR with equipment and supplies; participate in ongoing education.
• Review physician preference cards and maintain counts of sponges, needles, instruments.
• Maintain sterile field throughout procedures and understand relevant anatomy.
• Communicate effectively to promote continuity of care within the team.

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of Charge Nurse and Clinical Director, this position provides nursing care to ensure the safety of the patient during their transfer and stay in the surgical suite/procedure room.

• Direct and assist in carrying out safe aseptic techniques and procedures
• Supervise and directs the activities of surgical technician and non-professional personnel as necessary
• Perform assessments of patients for specific nursing care needed
• Checks room for needed supplies and prepares room for specific patient and procedure
• Assist in transporting patients to operating room/procedure room and checks patient record for appropriate pre-op preparation and procedures (i.e. lab, x-ray, appropriate permits)
• Performs clean up following procedures, as well as general housekeeping duties
• Sets up operating room/procedure room with all necessary equipment an supplies
• Participates in on-going committees and other educational programs to enhance patient care
• Reviews physicians’ preference cards and updates as needed
• Performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts and documentation of same as applicable.
• Ability to maintain sterile field throughout the surgical procedure
• General familiarity of medical terminology as it pertains to anatomy and surgical procedures for an operating room
• Strong communication skills and ability to promote departmental relationships to ensure continuity of care
• Capable of efficiently as a member of surgical/procedural team
• Ability to handle instruments correctly and checks for cleanliness and proper working condition
