Job description

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This position directs and coordinates nursing care for patients based on nursing practice standards and collaborates with other healthcare professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care, aiming for the best possible patient outcomes. The RN serves as a resource person when needed and applies age-specific considerations and cultural diversity when rendering patient care. The role includes caring for all patients from birth to elderly during the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative phases.

Responsibilities
  • Utilize the nursing process in the provision of patient care.
  • Administer treatments and medications, interpret diagnostic tests, and provide patient and family education.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Apply AORN standards and maintain competencies required for this position.
  • Flexibly manage patient care across the continuum and act independently within prescribed limits.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • Minimum Education: Associate Degree in Nursing from an NLN approved institution; BSN preferred.
  • Minimum Experience: 1-2 years of Operating Room experience.
  • Must be licensed in good standing in the State of Alaska as a Registered Professional Nurse.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification; PALS certification preferred.
  • National Certification in Surgery/PACU preferred.
Schedule

This position is offered on a days/nights shift schedule.

Assignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.
