Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lakeway, TX is hiring an Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) to coordinate patient care using the BSWH nursing model. The RN assesses patients, develops individualized care plans, and delegates interventions according to the Texas Nursing Practice Act.

Essential functions include clinical judgment, quality improvement participation, and patient advocacy. Must arrive within 45 minutes call requirement and have 1–2 years of nursing/OR experience.

Qualifications

• RN license in Texas or eligibility.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience.
• Minimum 1 year operating room (OR) experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

Facility: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Lakeway, TX

Department: Operating Room

Status: Full Time, 40 hrs per week

Shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM

Bed Capacity: 40 Beds

Call: Must arrive within 45 minutes

Call Schedule: Fridays through Sundays divided between nurses (normally 3‑4 shifts per month and one weekend every 2 plus months). Weekday PTO coverage only Monday–Thursday.

Experience: Minimum 1 year RN OR experience

Operating Room Suites: 6 OR suites, 2 ENDO suites, and 1 pain procedure room.

Case Mix: Primarily Neuro, Spine, Orthopedic, and general cases.

Equipment: State‑of‑the‑art neuro equipment (Stealth Navigation, Mazor Robot, several O‑arms) and a DaVinci Robot for general and urology cases.

The Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse (RN) is a licensed professional who uses the BSWH nursing model to coordinate patient care. The RN assesses patients, develops individualized care plans, evaluates responses, promotes safe passage, and delegates interventions according to the Texas Nursing Practice Act.

• Clinical Judgment: Conduct accurate assessments, prioritize patient and family needs, implement and evaluate care plans, and modify them as needed.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.

Certification, License, and Registration
