Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital is seeking an RN for the Operating Room (OR) on a PRN basis. The role involves delivering direct nursing care in a high-volume OR with diverse surgical cases, including organ transplants and orthopedic procedures.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes and educate patients and families throughout the surgical journey. The ideal candidate will hold an ADN or BSN, be a licensed RN in Florida, and possess BLS and ACLS

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • BLS Certification through AHA or Red Cross
  • ACLS certification through AHA must be presented on hire or within first year
  • One year of acute care RN experience or licensed military RN experience
  • Periop 101 or validated OR-based OJT

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care.
  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patients’ conditions.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

Our Operating Room team manages a wide variety of complex surgical cases in an 18-suite Operating Room Department, including but not limited to organ transplants, orthopedic procedures and neurosurgical cases. Care is delivered in alignment with established standards, department guidelines and hospital policies and procedures. As an RN in this role, you will use strong assessment and critical-thinking skills to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and ensure the best outcomes for every patient. You will deliver exceptional care throughout the surgical journey, interacting directly with patients and their families to enhance their overall experience and provide education as needed.

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working days between 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. or 6:30 a.m. -- 7:00 p.m. with on-call and weekend requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

  • Provide direct nursing care.

  • Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments.

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.

  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.

  • Educate patients and their families.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing (ADN or BSN program)

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)or American Red Cross

  • *Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of employment based on the department service level RN is hired into

  • One year of current acute care RN experience OR licensed military RN experience

  • Periop 101 or validated OJT for the Operating room settings

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)

  • One year of experience in OR

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
