Job description

We are seeking an experienced Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) for a contract opportunity on a day shift schedule (4x10s). This role is responsible for delivering high-quality perioperative nursing care, including patient assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care in the operating room setting. The OR RN will also support unit operations, supervise delegated staff, and ensure safe, efficient, and patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide safe, high-quality perioperative nursing care across all phases of surgical procedures
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care in the operating room
  • Maintain sterile technique and ensure compliance with surgical protocols and safety standards
  • Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes
  • Prepare operating rooms, instruments, and equipment for surgical procedures
  • Monitor patients intraoperatively and respond effectively to changes in condition
  • Supervise and delegate tasks to surgical team members appropriately
  • Ensure proper utilization of staff, supplies, and resources within the unit
  • Support efficient patient flow and operating room turnover
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation
  • Adhere to regulatory standards, infection control guidelines, and patient safety protocols
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and promote evidence-based practices
  • Support staff competency, training, and adherence to clinical standards
  • Communicate effectively with team members, leadership, patients, and families
  • Uphold professional, ethical, and patient-centered care standards

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • BLS and ACLS from AHA - required
  • Minimum 2 years of Operating Room nursing experience
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative procedures, sterile technique, and surgical instrumentation
  • Experience in a circulating role required; scrub experience preferred
  • Ability to supervise and delegate effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain a sterile field
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills
  • Shift is 10 hrs/day (06:30 AM – 05:00 PM), 40 hrs/week
  • Location is San Antonio, TX 78205
  • Pay Range for Travelers: $2,150 - $2,200 per week
  • 50 miles of radius restrictions (Locals not accepted)
