RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for the Oncology Float Pool at the New Brunswick campus. The RN will provide care across oncology units, working night shifts, and supporting trauma, neurology, cardiology, orthopedics, and oncology as part of a flexible float pool.

The role requires ASN or Nursing Diploma, BLS/ACLS, and NJ RN license, with BSN preferred within 5 years. Night 36 hours weekly, with some weekend/holiday rotation.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards.
• Maintain patient safety and apply evidence-based practice in care delivery.
• Report safety issues and medical errors in a timely manner.
• Understand the patient population served and tailor care accordingly.
• Supervise and direct delegation of tasks to the care team and collaborate with other providers.
• Set and evaluate priorities with appropriate interventions and measurable outcomes.
• Act as interdisciplinary team lead, coordinating the plan of care for each patient.

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a highly dedicated Registered Nurse for our Oncology Float Pool Department at the New Brunswick campus.

Qualifications

Required

• ASN or Nursing Diploma
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Preferred

• BSN or must be completed within 5 years upon hire
• At least 2-3 years of Medical Surgical/Oncology experience

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• BLS and ACLS certification
• Active New Jersey Registered Nurse License

Scheduling Requirements :

• Night Shift, 36 hours per week, 7p-7:30a
• Monday – Friday, some weekend and holiday rotation
• PT

Essential Functions

The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in the health care system within the scope of practice defined by the Nurse Practice Act and regulatory standards and assures awareness of ethical standards of practice as defined by the ANA code of ethics.

The Registered Nurse assures safety in practice and is inclusive of the principles of evidence-based practice by maintaining a realization of own individual level of knowledge and experience and assumes responsibility for advancing knowledge of self and others of the patient care team by communication with and utilizing resource persons and programs available.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for knowledge of the patient population served.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for supervising and directing the delegation of tasks to appropriate team members and collaborates with other patient care providers.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for consistently setting and evaluating priorities through appropriate interventions with measurable outcomes toward improvement.

The Registered Nurse is an individual practitioner and the interdisciplinary team manager, utilizes the nursing process to integrate all aspects of the provision of care and individualizes the plan of care to address a specific patient’s needs.
