Job summary

Cleveland Clinic’s Main Campus is hiring an RN to join the Hematology and Oncology team. You’ll work 7am–7:30pm or 7pm–7:30am with weekend rotations, delivering direct nursing care and contributing to high‑quality patient experiences in oncology units.

Responsibilities include implementing, monitoring and revising care plans, administering medications, documenting patient conditions, coordinating discharge, and educating patients and families.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN)
  • Current state RN license
  • BLS certification through AHA or Red Cross
  • One year of acute care RN experience in a hospital setting

The Hematology and Oncology Department at Cleveland Clinic focuses on the diagnoses and treatment of various malignancies and hematologic diseases, from new diagnosis to the end of life. The dedicated caregivers in this unit provide the highest quality, safest care to patients receiving chemotherapy, targeted cancer therapies, radioactive iodine and other types of cancer-fighting therapies. As an RN on this team, you will assist fellow caregivers in delivering exceptional care, from initial introduction to final send-off. You will interact directly with patients, families and visitors, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and supply healthcare education as needed. Additionally, the Cleveland Clinic system provides nurses with many professional development resources, including furthering education and online/in-person courses to enhance your skills. Potential Unit Placement Opportunities This posting represents opportunities across the following units. Candidates selected for hire will be matched to a single unit. G111 Leukemia G110 Bone Marrow Transplant G70 Solid Tumor Oncology M70/M71 Lymphoma/Myeloma A caregiver in this position works 7am - 730pm, OR 7:00pm - 730am with weekend rotations. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Provide direct nursing care. Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans. Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions. Administer prescribed medications and treatments. Note and carry out physician and nursing orders. Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. Educate patients and their families. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing (ADN or BSN program) Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross One year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting required for acute care settings Will consider licensed military RN experience ONS Chemo/Bio course completed within two years of hire if employed on units where chemo is administered. Any registered nurse or advanced practice nurse must obtain a cancer specific certification or demonstrate ongoing qualifying education within the timeframe of the facilities accreditation cycle, if they work in medical oncology, radiation oncology, cancer center or cancer clinic and/or administer chemotherapy within an accredited Cleveland Clinic facility Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN) Physical Requirements: Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours. Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids. Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required. Pay Range Minimum hourly: $35.50 Maximum hourly: $55.60 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate’s actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate’s work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
