Job summary

AdventHealth in Burleson, TX, seeks an experienced Nursing Professional Development practitioner to drive nursing research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives within the unit. The role emphasizes education, mentorship, and leading onboarding using ANPD standards.

You will disseminate findings, plan orientation, and collaborate to implement changes that enhance patient care and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Required]
  • Master's [Preferred]
  • Field of Study: Nursing or Healthcare related field
  • 2+ years of nursing experience in a hospital setting [Required]
  • Experience in specialty area applying for [Preferred]
  • Experience as preceptor [Preferred]
  • Previous teaching experience in formal/informal settings [Preferred]
  • 1+ years of experience as an NPD Practitioner [Preferred]
  • Registered Nurse (RN) [Required]
  • Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS) [Required]
  • ANCC - Nursing Professional Development Certification (ANCC-NPD) [Preferred]
  • Acute/Critical Care Nursing - Adult (CCRN) [Preferred]

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a resource for clinical inquiry process, including identification of potential projects, and/or subject matter expertise.
  • Demonstrates a “spirit of inquiry” to support professional curiosity including research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives using the organization’s structure.
  • Works with others to identify problems and solutions and collaboratively create and assist in the implementation of changes.
  • Creates a supportive environment for nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.
  • Disseminates evidence-based practice findings through educational programs, courses, and other activities.
  • Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates orientation for new nursing unit/department using ANPD standards and NPD Practice model to ensure onboarding orientation.

Job Description:

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am – 4:30pm



  • Serves as a resource for clinical inquiry process, including identification of potential projects, and/or subject matter expertise.


  • Demonstrates a “spirit of inquiry” to support professional curiosity including research, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement initiatives using the organization’s preferred structure, i.e. PDSA (plan, do, study, act).


  • Works with others to identify problems and solutions and collaboratively create and assists in the implementation of the changes planned.


  • Creates a supportive environment for nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice.


  • Disseminates evidence-based practice findings through educational programs, courses, and other activities. Other duties as assigned.


  • Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates orientation for individuals new to the nursing unit/department using the ANPD standards of practice including assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation with the NPD Practice model using inputs, throughputs, and outcomes to ensure a systematic approach to onboarding orientation.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Working knowledge of word processing, data management, email, and presentation applications.[Required]


  • Effective professional communicator with strong interpersonal skills.[Required]


  • Knowledge of the American Nurses Association (ANA)/Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) scope and standards for Nursing Professional Development[Required]


  • Self-directed, creative, and demonstrates initiative to fulfill the seven roles of the NPD practitioner: learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for the NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions.[Preferred]


  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory standards (e.g., CMS, OSHA) for professional specialty served.[Preferred]



Education:


  • Bachelor's of Nursing [Required]


  • Master's [Preferred]



Field of Study:


  • of Nursing or Healthcare related field



Work Experience:


  • 2+ years of nursing experience in a hospital setting [Required]


  • Experience in specialty area applying for [Preferred]
