Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Columbus, Ohio is seeking a Nurse Educator to lead development and delivery of residency and education programs across sites. You will consult with patients, families, staff and physicians, guiding evidence-based practice and clinical education initiatives.

The role emphasizes leadership in patient care, program integrity, and collaboration to support organizational initiatives within the Mount Carmel network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in Ohio; professional certification preferred.
• Minimum 1 year recent experience in area of specialization preferred.

Responsibilities

• Strategically supports the system nurse residency program.
• Standardize educational design across all participating practice settings with no deviation.
• Maintain integrity of program structures and processes across sites.
• Coordinate the practice setting curriculums across all sites within the program.
• Develop strategies to strengthen the practice environment per PTAP guidelines.
• Assess learning needs of associates to plan and participate in development and teaching programs.
• Serve as a resource for staff on critical thinking, equipment use and clinical problem solving.
• Develop and revise standards of care, policies, procedures, and protocols reflecting current evidence-based practice.
• Create patient education materials accessible and culturally sensitive; utilize multiple platforms.

Position Purpose:

In accordance with the Mission and Guiding Behaviors; the Nurse Educator, within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, functions within the standards, policies, procedures and guidelines of the organization. The Nurse Educator provides consultation and education to patients, families, staff and physicians regarding the care of patients, assumes a leadership role in issues relating to patient care and acts as a change agent to support institutional initiatives pertaining to the care of patients.

What Y ou W ill D o:

RN Residency Program:

• Strategically supports the system nurse residency program.

• Standardize educational design across all participating practice settings without program deviation or variability.

• Maintain integrity of program structures and processes in all participating practice settings.

• Coordinates the practice setting curriculums across all sites within the program.

• Develop strategies to strengthen the practice environment according to Practice Transition Accreditation Program, (PTAP) guidelines.

• Assesses the learning needs of associates within patient care settings in order to plan, organize, coordinate and participate in development and/or teaching of programs to meet those identified needs .

• Acts as a resource for staff regarding critical thinking, equipment use and problem solving regarding clinical situations .

• Develops, reviews, and revises standards of care, policies, procedures, practice guidelines, classes, and protocols of care to reflect current evidence-based practice and changing technology .

• May develop patient education materials that are easy-to-read/understand and culturally sensitive to ensure clinicians have the resources essential to support the educational need of the patient, family and community. Utilizes all available platforms including written, electronic and web-based services to provide education and promote learning including collaboration with other organizations on language access services to encompass diverse patient populations.

• Education plan development .

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.

• Licensure / Certification: Current licensure to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio; Professional certification preferred.

• Experience: Minimum of 1 year recent experience in area of specialization preferred .
