Job summary

Austin Oaks Hospital, part of Universal Health Services, invites a Registered Nurse to join our Adult/Adolescent/Women's units in South Austin. The RN will implement and evaluate patient care, supervise nursing staff, and support the Chief Nursing Officer and House Supervisor in daily operations.

Responsibilities include admissions assessments, medication administration, team collaboration, milieu management, patient education, and ensuring high-quality care.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program and Texas RN license.
• One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and de-escalation certifications required or obtainable during orientation.

Position Summary

The RN is responsible for implementing and evaluating patient care on the Adult/Adolescent/Women's units; for providing supervision and guidance for nursing staff members; for assuming responsibilities delegated by the Chief Nursing Officer, Nurse Manager, or House Supervisor; for personal and professional growth and development. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Medication management – administer medication and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
• Participates as member of interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Ensures nursing interventions.
• Provides milieu management and unit team leadership.
• Provides appropriate nursing intervention/documentation in crisis situations.
• Reports unsafe conditions.
• Provides age-specific communication, limit setting and interventions.
• Provides health education to patients and their families.
• Prepares and adheres to facility patient discharge process.
• Interacts with patients and staff in professional manner, promotes teamwork and demonstrates Service Excellence
• Attends mandatory staff meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Registered Nurse Job Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas (or licensed in a compact state).
• One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
• CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications which can be obtained during orientation.
• Must be able to complete new hire requirements such as a nationwide background check and pre-employment drug screen.
• State and Federal Office of the Inspector General check.
