Job summary

Austin Oaks Hospital in South Austin, TX seeks a Registered Nurse to implement and evaluate patient care on Adult/Adolescent/Women's units; provide supervision for nursing staff; and support the Chief Nursing Officer, Nurse Manager, or House Supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.

The RN will participate in admissions, document patient progress, administer medications, and collaborate with an interdisciplinary treatment team to ensure quality care and crisis management.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Licensed by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners.
  • One-year psychiatric nursing experience preferred.
  • CPR and hospital de-escalation certifications which can be obtained during orientation.
  • Nationwide background check and pre-employment drug screen required.

Responsibilities

  • Completes patient admissions process, including nursing assessment.
  • Documents ongoing patient assessments/progress clearly and concisely as required by hospital and regulatory standards.
  • Administers medications and medical treatment as prescribed by a physician.
  • Participates as member of interdisciplinary treatment team.
  • Ensures nursing interventions are provided.
  • Provides milieu management and unit team leadership.
  • Provides appropriate nursing intervention/documentation in crisis situations.
  • Reports unsafe conditions.
  • Provides age-specific communication, limit setting and interventions.
  • Provides health education to patients and their families.
  • Prepares and adheres to discharge process.
  • Interacts with patients and staff in a professional manner, promotes teamwork and service excellence.
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Qualifications
Registered Nurse Job Requirements
