Job summary

Endeavor Health is launching an RN New Graduate Residency Program across several Illinois hospital locations for a March 15, 2027 cohort. It combines clinical orientation, classroom education, simulation, mentorship, and evidence-based practice to support new graduates transitioning to professional practice.

Hospitals include Edward, Elmhurst, Evanston, Glenbrook, Highland Park, Northwest Community, Skokie, and Swedish, with rotating schedules and 36–40 hours per week per site.

Qualifications

• Illinois RN licensure or eligibility required.
• BSN preferred; ADN considered with hospital-specific requirements.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Strong communication and patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe, professional nursing care per policy and Act.
• Participate in orientation, classroom education and simulations.
• Develop bedside skills under supervision during residency.
• Use clinical equipment and EHRs appropriately.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond promptly.
• Progress from task-based learning to clinical judgment.
• Communicate effectively with patients and interprofessional team.
• Apply conflict-management to promote safe care.
• Discuss ethics, end-of-life care, palliative transitions.
• Collaborate to promote optimal outcomes and quality improvement.

Hourly Pay Range:

$37.25 - $57.74 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

These structured programs support newly licensed registered nurses transitioning into professional practice through clinical orientation, classroom education, simulation, mentorship, peer support, evidence-based practice, and quality improvement.

What You Will Do:

• Provide safe, professional, and person-centered nursing care in accordance with the Illinois Professional Registered Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies.


• Participate in clinical orientation, classroom education, simulation, group discussion, and reflective learning.


• Develop bedside skills through supervised practice and experiential learning.


• Use clinical equipment, documentation systems, and electronic health records appropriately.


• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond effectively.


• Progress from task-based learning toward critical thinking, clinical judgment, and anticipation of patient needs.


• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and members of the interprofessional team.


• Apply communication and conflict-management strategies to promote safe and timely care.


• Participate in discussions involving ethical issues, including end-of-life care, palliative care, and hospice transitions.


• Collaborate with the healthcare team to promote optimal patient outcomes and continuity of care.


• Participate in evidence-based practice and/or quality improvement projects.

What You Will Need:

Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher preferred.


• Candidates with an Associate Degree in Nursing may be considered based on hospital-specific requirements and approval.


• ADN-prepared nurses generally must obtain a BSN or higher within five years of starting the RN position.

Licensure and Certification

• Current CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association.


• Current Illinois Registered Nurse license, or eligibility for license-pending employment.

Candidates awaiting Illinois RN licensure may be eligible to practice under the direction of a registered professional nurse if they:

• Provide official written notification of passing the NCLEX.


• Submit the Illinois RN license application and required fees by the position start date.
