Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking an RN New Grad Resident for the Dialysis unit at the Main Campus in Cleveland. You will work on inpatient dialysis care, using state-of-the-art technology and a patient-first approach to support patients and families.

The Nurse Residency program offers hands-on training, a structured curriculum, and mentorship to help you grow into a skilled dialysis nurse in a world-class healthcare system.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing.
  • Current state licensure as an RN.
  • BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
  • New grad or less than one year RN work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct nursing care on the Dialysis unit.
  • Deliver patient education and care coordination throughout the patient journey.
  • Assist in orientation and support a growth-focused residency experience.
  • Collaborate with caregivers to establish patient care priorities.
  • Document patient data accurately in medical records.
  • Participate in the residency core curriculum and coaching sessions.

On our Dialysis Unit, you will be caring for our inpatients and will use our state‑of‑the‑art dialysis technology and follow our 'patient‑first' methodology to deliver exceptional care. As an Dialysis RN on our team, you will deliver exceptional care throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.

As an RN Resident, you will assist fellow caregivers in providing exceptional care, from initial introduction to discharge. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, families and visitors and offer the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed. All the while, you will continue growing as an RN and gaining extensive hands‑on experience in a fast‑paced, rapidly evolving healthcare setting.

Our Center for Workplace Violence Prevention and Caregiver Well‑Being sets caregiver safety as a priority, identifying, reporting and responding to incidents and providing safety resources.

A caregiver in this role works days from 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

The schedule includes three 12‑hour shifts, every other Saturday (closed on Sundays) with on‑call responsibilities 1–2 times every six weeks as needed, along with holiday requirements.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:
  • Participate in a residency core curriculum based on individual learning needs.
  • Provide direct nursing care alongside a success coach.
  • Establish and/or revise priorities for patient care (acuity of need, patient preference and resource availability).
  • Respond to data indicating risk to patients' health and initiate action to correct, reduce or prevent risk.
  • Seek supervision, consultation and assistance when unable to perform safely and independently.
  • Document in patients' medical records
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Graduate from an accredited School of Professional Nursing
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) OR the American Red Cross
  • New grad or less than one year RN work experience or if experience RN moving from non‑inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatient setting with less than one year current acute direct patient care RN experience.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
  • Bachelor of science in nursing (BSN)
Physical Requirements:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
