Job summary

Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque seeks a Neuroendovascular Registered Nurse to join our Operating Room team. You will assist with complex neuroendovascular procedures and provide specialized clinical support to two surgeons in a collaborative, fast-paced hospital setting.

Qualifications

  • Active nursing license in NM or a compact state.
  • Associates degree in nursing is required.
  • BLS, ACLS and PALS certifications required at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Provides peri-procedural nursing care for patients undergoing invasive, image-guided procedures in cardiac catheterization lab, hybrid OR, and interventional radiology suites.
  • Combines direct patient care with scrub/circulating roles as appropriate, monitors, administers medications/contrast/infusions, and coordinates safe patient flow.
  • Performs pre-procedure assessments, verifies consent and NPO status, confirms allergies, and implements premedication or contrast safety protocols.
  • Provides intra-procedure nursing care: monitors hemodynamics, administers medications/contrast/infusions, manages lines and vascular access, assists with sedation.
  • Functions as scrub RN or circulating RN as case dictates; assists with sterile setup and instrument passing.
  • Operates procedural monitors and infusion pumps; collaborates with imaging to ensure fluoroscopy positioning and radiation safety.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides peri-procedural nursing care for patients undergoing invasive, image-guided procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab, hybrid OR, and/or interventional radiology suite.
  • Combines direct patient care (pre/intra/post-procedure) with procedural assistance (scrub/circulating roles as appropriate), monitoring, medication administration (including contrast and vasoactive infusions), coordination to support safe, efficient patient flow for elective and emergent cases.
  • Perform thorough pre-procedure assessments, verify consent and NPO status, confirm allergies (contrast, medications), and implement appropriate premedication or contrast safety protocols.
  • Provide intra-procedure nursing care: monitor hemodynamics, administer medications/contrast/infusions, manage lines and vascular access, assist with sedation/analgesia in collaboration with anesthesia or procedural sedation protocols.
  • Function as scrub RN or circulating RN as case needs dictate. Assist with sterile setup, device handling, instrument passing, and counts when applicable.
  • Operate and troubleshoot basic procedural monitors and infusion pumps; collaborate with imaging technologists on fluoroscopy positioning and radiation safety.
  • Provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, implementing, evaluating, and documenting individual patient needs, actions taken and patient responses.
  • Coordinates patients care through collaboration with the patient/family and healthcare team.
  • Assists with various procedures, treatments, surgical techniques or assigns to other healthcare team members as appropriate.
  • Assumes other leadership roles (i.e. relief charge nurse) as required by the department
Qualifications:
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
  • Minimum of Associates Degree in Nursing Required
  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire from AHA, ASHI or Red Cross
  • ACLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire from AHA, ASHI or Red Cross
  • PALS certification REQUIRED at time of hire from AHA, ASHI or Red Cross
  • One (1) year of CVL and or Operating Room experience HIGHLY Preferred
  • One (1) year of Neuroendovascular Experience HIGHLY Preferred
