Position Summary

The Clinical Staff Nurse is a skilled Registered Nurse responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care within a Medical-Surgical Telemetry unit. Reporting to the nurse manager, the role involves organizing, planning, and coordinating individualized care based on the Watson Model of Care, with attention to age and population-specific needs. The nurse actively participates in hospital mission, core values, and quality improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, and problem-solving to meet patient and family needs.
• Perform focused assessments, recognize subtle clinical changes, and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Provide age-appropriate care, applying current research and critical thinking for clinical decisions.
• Maintain therapeutic relationships, conduct hourly rounding, and promote patient satisfaction.
• Communicate effectively using SBAR, document care accurately, and collaborate with team members.
• Coordinate discharge planning and review patient orders, promptly communicating significant changes.
• Evaluate intervention outcomes and utilize patient classification systems.
• Supervise ancillary staff and participate in unit orientation, training, and quality improvement activities.
• Ensure a safe, clean environment adhering to regulatory standards.
• Assist with equipment setup, patient hygiene, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

• Associate degree or higher in Nursing; Bachelor’s preferred.
• Minimum one year of clinical nursing experience; Med/Surg/Telemetry or Critical Care preferred.
• Current California RN license, BLS, and ACLS certifications.
• Basic EKG competence; certifications in progressive critical care or surgical nursing preferred.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish) and basic computer skills are advantageous.
• Knowledge of electronic medical records and crisis prevention training preferred.
