Job summary

HCA Florida Fawcett Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced acute care setting.

You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, administer medications, monitor patients, and document care while upholding standards of practice and compassionate service. A Florida RN license and BLS are required, with BSN preferred for career growth.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse or comply with compact licensure and license active within 60 days of hire.
  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
  • Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting changes.
  • Administer prescribed medications, monitor therapeutic response, and document care in the medical record.
  • Provide responsive, compassionate patient care and promptly address requests, anticipating needs.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about conditions, treatments, and follow-up steps; translate medical terms when needed.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

What you will do in this role:

  • Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
  • Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
  • Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Must be licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL RN license required within 60 days of hire.

  • Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred.
  • Previous experience in an acute care setting strongly preferred.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
  • Critical thinking, service excellence and good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, ability to follow verbal instructions, PC skills.
