Job Summary

This job acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. It effectively delegates, directs, and assists licensed and ancillary team members; assumes accountability for quality patient outcomes; exhibits sensitivity to cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity in all interactions; participates in activities aimed toward achieving unit and departmental strategic goals and demonstrates professional responsibility and accountability for one’s own practice.

Education
  • Required – Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Preferred – Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Work Experience
  • Required – None.
Certifications
  • Required – Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.
  • Required – Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Preferred – Certification in Clinical Specialty Area.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Heavy work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, or 10 to 20 pounds constantly to move objects. Physical demands exceed those for sedentary work. Duties require exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue. The incumbent works in a patient care area and may be exposed to communicable diseases and hazardous medications or waste.
