Job summary

Medical City Dallas is seeking a Registered Nurse for Med Surg Tele PRN to provide high-quality, patient-centered care on night shifts from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am with rotating weekends. You will collaborate with the care team to assess, document, administer medications, and support patients and families.

You must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program, hold or obtain TX RN licensure, current BLS, and ideally one year of acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing.
• Associate's Degree acceptable to start; Bachelor's within 24 months.
• Current RN license in TX or compact license.
• Current BLS certification (AHA or Red Cross).
• 1 year acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient condition on admission and each shift, report changes promptly.
• Administer medications, monitor response, and document care in the medical record.
• Respond to patient requests promptly and educate patients and families.
• Educate patients and families about condition, treatment, medications and follow-up.

Education

Associate's Degree in Nursing or higher

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within 24 months

Job Summary And Qualifications

• This is a PRN position to help cover Night shift, 7:00pm - 7:00am with rotating weekends *

As a Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

What You Will Do In This Role

• Assess the patient's condition during admission and each scheduled shift, promptly identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
• Perform procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s), and ensure thorough and timely documentation of care administration in the patient's medical record. - Administer prescribed medications, monitor the patient for therapeutic response, and take appropriate action in the event of an unintended response to the medication.
• Provide exceptional care by responding promptly to patient requests, proactively anticipating patient needs, and resolving them.
• Educate patients, families, and caregivers about the patient's medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, ensuring complete understanding by translating complex medical terminology.

What Qualifications You Will Need

• Graduate of an accredited school of Professional Nursing
• Associate's Degree okay to start, Bachelors Degree required within 24 months of hire into RN position
• Current RN license in the State of TX or compact license
• Current BLS issued by the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross
• 1 year acute care experience in area/unit highly preferred
