Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join the Med/Surg Medical unit at our Edina, Minnesota campus. The unit is a 36-bed, teamwork-oriented environment serving geriatric and medical patients.

The RN will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate care in accordance with nursing practice, collaborating with the health care team and families. A MN RN license and BLS are required, with a potential transition to Charge RN within six months.

Qualifications

• MN Registered Nurse (RN) License.
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross).
• Willingness and ability to train into the Charge RN role within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient needs and identify expected nursing outcomes.

About this Unit:

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work on a medical/surgical unit? If so, then the Med/Surg-Medical Unit may be the right fit for you! This 36-bed unit includes 18 telemetry bed and is known for its superb teamwork, learning environment, and sense of family and camaraderie. The patient population on the Med/Surg-Medical Unit consists of Geriatric, Respiratory, GI, and Detox patients. This unit is widely known for high employee engagement scores, patient and family-centered care, and being a fun and engaging place to work.

• 7 negative airflow rooms to accommodate respiratory isolation.
• Primarily provide inpatient care for adult and geriatric medical patients. Most patients have multiple complex health problems in addition to their admitting diagnosis.
• Most common diagnoses include: pneumonia, GI bleed, COPD exacerbation, CHF, abdominal pain, diabetes with complications, infections caused by resistant and emerging organisms, and renal failure.

Schedule: This position is 72 hours per two weeks on the night shift, 12 hours (7pm -7:30am), with every weekend (Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday). This position is eligible for the $15.00 incentive/per hour.

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

• Develops an individualized plan based on age, social and cultural considerations, condition and other relevant needs.
• Evaluates care and patient response to interventions and expected outcomes.
• Collaborates and communicates effectively and respectfully with the patient, family and members of the health care team within and across care settings to promote partnership-based health care
• Demonstrates the ability to advance care by utilizing standards, guidelines, care pathways and continuous improvement to enhance patient outcomes.
• Promotes a culture of evidence based practice (EBP)

Required Qualifications

• MN Registered Nurse (RN) License
• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
• Willingness and ability to train into the Charge RN role within six months of hire is required
