Corewell Health’s Royal Oak Hospital is seeking an RN for the fast-paced 8 Central Medical unit (41 beds). You’ll apply nursing process to deliver patient-centered care, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to manage varied medical and surgical cases.

Ideal candidates hold an Associates or Diploma in Nursing, with RN licensure in Michigan within 60 days and BLS certification. The role includes night shifts, 36 hours weekly, and every third weekend, in a unit with Shared Governance and

• Bachelor's in Nursing required within 5 years for GN or RN with less than 1 year of experience.
• Graduates from a non-accredited nursing school must have at least one year of acute care experience or two years in licensed health care and must have passed NCLEX.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) required within 60 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire from recognized organizations.

8 Central Medical is a fast-paced 41 bed unit. Nurses on this unit care for patients with a variety of medical diagnoses or surgical patients with medical complications, which leads to excellent learning opportunities. The care environment on 8 Center allows nurses to develop exceptional clinical assessment, critical thinking, and problem solving skills while working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary care team to meet the needs of complex medical patients. 8 Center has an active Professional Nurse Council, and the staff nurses are able to be involved in unit decisions with a Shared Governance Model.

Scope of work

The RN, under the ANA scope of practice utilizes the framework of the nursing process to provide professional nursing care by incorporating patient-family centered care principles to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and discharge. The RN provides quality patient care under the direction of the Nurse Leader according to Corewell Health policies and procedures and recognizes the impact of nursing care and patient/family partnerships on patient outcomes. The RN partners with and utilizes patient/family input and goals in planning plan of care and develops teaching strategies for patient/family; documents education and learning appropriately in health record.

Qualifications

• Associates or Diploma in Nursing Required.
• Bachelors in Nursing Required within 5 years for GN or RN with less than 1 year of experience.
• Graduates from a non-accredited school of nursing must have at least one year of acute care experience or at least two years of experience in a licensed health care role and must have successfully passed the NCLEX licensure examination.
• MI Registered Nurse (RN) Required within 60 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire from one of the following organizations - American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or Canadian Heart and Stroke.
