Job Summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a full-time Registered Nurse Supervisor for our Emergency Department, home to Hampton Roads' only Level I Trauma Center. Our 53-bed Emergency Department is equipped to manage a wide range of medical emergencies, with approximately 10% of cases related to trauma.

As part of a Level I Trauma Center, you will work alongside experienced emergency medicine providers, specialists, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver timely, high-quality care when patients need it most. Nurses in this department gain exposure to complex emergency, trauma, cardiac, stroke, critical care, and specialty cases while building advanced clinical skills in a collaborative environment.

Sentara Norfolk General Emergency Department has been recognized with the Emergency Nurses Association Lantern Award , honoring exceptional and innovative leadership, practice, education, advocacy, and research.

Education Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required , graduate degree preferred.
• One year of Management experience required.
• Two years experience in a support leadership RN position, i.e. Unit Coordinator, Team Lead, or other like position may be accepted in lieu of 1 year formal management experience.

Certification/Licensure Requirements

• Registered Nurse license required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.

Experience Requirements

• Three years of RN experience required.

Job Responsibilities

The Clinical Nurse Manager has overall accountability for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. Supervises patient care services staff, ensures excellent patient safety and quality outcomes as well as extraordinary patient/family experience. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, developing and retaining staff with the goal of developing a highly reliable team. Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills to achieve unit and corporate goals. Assists in the development and monitoring of unit budget, coordinates purchasing and payroll processes and serves as a clinical resource to team members.

Compensation

We provide market-competitive compensation packages, inclusive of base pay, incentives, and benefits. The base pay range for full-time employment is $129,584.00 - $197,974.40 annually.
