Job summary

East Tennessee Behavioral Health is seeking an experienced RN Manager to join Knoxville’s behavioral health hospital team. The role includes directing nursing operations, coordinating care across units, and ensuring compliance with regulations while maintaining a compassionate, patient-centered approach.

You will supervise staff, manage resources, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to meet residents' diverse needs and drive quality initiatives.

Qualifications

  • BSN or higher strongly preferred.
  • Current RN license in the state.
  • Three years as RN strongly preferred; two years required.
  • Experience as house supervisor strongly preferred.
  • One year of charge RN or administrative experience required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists DON/CNO with directing, planning, coordinating nursing operations for assigned units.
  • Oversees delivery of behavioral health/nursing services with patient safety as top priority.
  • Leads staffing, budgeting, and training to ensure compliant care.
  • Serves as clinical resource to nursing staff and other departments.

East Tennessee Behavioral Health is searching for an experienced RN Manager to join our team of professionals. Purpose Statement

Assists the DON/CNO with directing, planning, coordinating, monitoring and supervising the effective and efficient use of the operations of nursing for assigned units. Oversees the delivery of behavioral health/nursing services in a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude toward customers at all times. Collaborates with interdisciplinary treatment teams, other departments and administration to ensure that all residents’ physical, biopsychosocial, age, developmental and cultural needs are met and works to resolve customer complaints. Provides leadership to assure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as nursing practice standards, with patient safety as a top priority.

Key Responsibilities
  • Anticipates and effectively manages changes in census and acuity and allocates nursing resources based on measurement of patient acuity/care needed
  • Role models expectations related to customer service and demonstrates a sense of urgency related to the importance of patient safety
  • Accountable for the standard of care at the facility, providing consultations and expertise in the delivery of care to patients
  • Serves as a clinical and service resource to nursing staff and other staff as assigned
  • Manages the activities of staff, coordinating safe and appropriate care between departments and disciplines
  • Manages and evaluates work activities of nursing, technical, clerical, service or maintenance staff for the unit, work group and other facility staff as directed
  • Analyzes information/situation to choose the best solution(s) to solve problems
  • Responsible for recruitment, hiring and training of new staff
  • Identifies the educational needs of others and develops educational or training programs
  • Assists with the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures for the facility
  • Prepares reports to inform management of the status and implementation of programs, services and quality initiatives of the unit
  • Performs administrative or managerial functions such as planning budgets and authorizing expenditures
  • Provides direct care as needed
Other Functions
  • Perform other functions and tasks as assigned
Education / Experience / Skill Requirements
  • BSN or higher strongly preferred
  • Current registered nursing license in the state of facility required
  • Three years as a registered nurse strongly preferred; two years required
  • Two years of prior experience as a registered nurse with a patient population of the facility preferred
  • One year of prior experience with the population required
  • Prior experience as a house supervisor strongly preferred
  • One year of charge RN or other administrative experience required
Licenses / Designations / Certifications
  • Current RN license as required by state
  • CPR and de‑escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility)
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility
