Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health in Plano, Texas seeks an LVAD Coordinator RN to oversee care for patients with ventricular assist devices. You will manage evaluations, admissions, and discharges using the nursing process to assess conditions, develop care plans, monitor responses, and track outcomes.

The role is full-time days, with after-hours on-call and weekend coverage on a rotating schedule. You will educate patients, families, and staff, uphold confidentiality, and collaborate with the care

Qualifications

  • Associate's degree required.
  • Minimum 2 years in a relevant field.
  • RN license required; BLS certification or obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate LVAD patient care, including evaluations, admissions and discharges.
  • Assess conditions and create care plans using the nursing process.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff on LVAD device use.
  • Maintain confidentiality and promote teamwork in care delivery.
  • Monitor outcomes and adjust plans as needed.

Baylor Scott & White Health, Plano, Texas

SPECIALTY/DEPARTMENT:

Heart Failure Clinic

SHIFT/SCHEDULE:

Full-time days, Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. There is an on-call after 4:00 p.m., Monday-Friday, 24 hours on Saturday and Sunday, every six weeks at one time a week.

Job Summary

As an LVAD Coordinator RN, you'll be a certified part of our healthcare team, coordinating patient care. You will manage evaluations, admissions, and discharges for LVAD patients. Using the nursing process, you'll assess conditions, create care plans, evaluate responses, and track outcomes.

  • Prioritize patient and family needs before implementing care plans.
  • You'll evaluate nursing practices regularly and advocate for changes based on research evidence when needed.
  • Your role involves managing patient discomfort, alleviating suffering, promoting healing, and preventing pain. This requires both emotional and physical care.
  • It is important to protect patients' confidentiality, dignity, and rights.
  • You will help others learn by providing education to patients, families, and the community to improve care.
  • You will work with others to create and follow care plans, promoting teamwork and common goals.
  • In your role, problem-solving and efficient resource use show your systems thinking skills are crucial.

  • You need a deep knowledge and skill in nursing, specifically for long-term mechanical heart support devices.
  • Managing patient care with ventricular assist devices is vital.
  • Educating staff and caregivers on device use is also crucial.
