Nursing Unit Manager

Responsibilities of the Nursing Unit Manager:

  1. Assign and direct nursing and C.N.A staff daily based on resident needs, ensuring huddles occur each shift to review care plans.
  2. Hire, orient, train, manage, mentor, and counsel staff in accordance with HR policies and legal guidelines.
  3. Provide timely annual evaluations and maintain a clean, organized unit.
  4. Follow policies related to Clinical Operations, providing education, support, and consultation to residents and families.
  5. Collaborate with the Rehabilitation Department to tailor care activities to individual needs.
  6. Assess resident needs and develop individualized care plans.
  7. Communicate with physicians and practitioners, offering interventions to reduce hospital transfers.
  8. Engage with the interdisciplinary team to meet care and discharge goals.
  9. Review nursing documentation daily for accuracy and completeness; monitor Point Click Care Dashboard for outstanding items.
  10. Identify and address resident and family education needs, especially for discharge planning.
  11. Monitor Nurse Aide documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  12. Ensure Monthly Nursing Summaries are completed as required.
  13. Participate in the QAPI program and apply its principles daily.

Qualifications:

  1. At least 2 years of clinical nursing experience in long-term care.
  2. Minimum of 1 year supervising staff.
  3. Ability to manage and direct staff effectively.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with residents, families, and staff.
