Job summary

McCallie School in Chattanooga, TN seeks an experienced school nurse to join the Student Health Center team. You will support students, campers, and the campus community, fostering strong relationships with students, parents, and local health partners.

The role is a full-time, twelve-month position with benefits and flexible shift options to cover 3-11 PM weekdays and other configurations as needed, ensuring year-round health coverage for the campus.

Qualifications

• Current RN or LPN license with the state of Tennessee, RN highly preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS training.
• Experience in clinical nursing practice.
• Computer proficiency for web-based documentation.
• Ability to work independently according to health center established protocols and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with students, parents, and staff.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable MVR.
• Prior experience in pediatric or school nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely dispense prescription medications according to physician orders.
• Safely dispense over-the-counter medications according to the McCallie Student Health Center Standing Orders.
• Provide nursing care/first aid for illnesses and injuries of students, faculty/staff, and families on campus.
• Assist students in the management of chronic health conditions.
• Respond to health emergencies on campus and communicate with Campus Coverage.
• Document nursing actions in a timely manner.
• Provide student transportation to appointments when necessary.
• Demonstrate commitment to McCallie’s mission and Judeo-Christian heritage.
