Job summary

AHRC Nassau in Plainview, NY is seeking a Registered Nurse Learning & Professional Development Specialist to educate staff on medical topics and maintain compliance with industry standards.

You will train staff in CPR, AMAP, infection control, diabetes care, tube feeding, colostomy care, and develop curricula while traveling to program locations as needed.

Qualifications

• NYS Registered Nurse licensure required.
• Experience in Intellectual Disability/Developmental Disability preferred.
• Strong public speaking abilities.
• Teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Educate staff on CPR, AMAP, infection control, first aid, and related topics.

Registered Nurse - Learning & Professional Development Specialist

Plainview, NY

Full-Time: 35 hours Flex (Mon-Fri day hours with flexibility for evenings/weekends as needed)

Salary $79K - $85K/yr

AHRC Nassau, one of Long Island’s largest providers of quality services for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities, is seeking a personable, articulate, and engaging RN Learning & Professional Development Specialist.

This unique opportunity involves educating staff on a variety of medical and health-related topics, including but not limited to: CPR, AMAP and AMAP Recertification, Infection Control, First Aid & Seizure Management, Bloodborne Pathogens, PPD, OPWDD Diabetes Care, Tube Feeding, and Colostomy Care.

In addition, you will:

• Facilitate training supports utilizing a variety of instructional techniques or formats such as role-playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
• Train & certify AMAP students.
• Ensure all program staff receive adequate medical training, as needed, and based upon internal and QA audit outcomes.
• Train staff on Diabetes education, Tube Feeding and Colostomy Bag training in compliance with OPWDD.
• Administer and read Mantoux (PPD) testing.
• Assist in the development of new and updated curricula and procedures determined by AHRC Nassau, Citizens Options Unlimited, Inc., and OPWDD regulations.
• Conduct on-site, program-specific, field-based training as needed.
• Work evenings and/or weekends as needed; travel to program locations as needed to facilitate onsite training.
